With Torrefied Wood Pellets
We Create Sustainable Energy Using Torrefied Wood Pellets to Reduce Pollution and Enhance Efficiency

Northeast Mississippi Renewables
Northeast Mississippi Renewables (“NMR” or “Company”) is an emerging industrial wood pellet company that is developing 450,000 metric tons (“MT”) of annual torrefied black pellet production capacity to meet rapidly growing global biomass demand. Sustainably sourced wood biomass is a renewable alternative to fossil fuels and is internationally recognized as a key component of global decarbonization.
NMR’s project is ideally located on a 60-acre site in Fulton, Mississippi (“NMR Facility”, the “Project” or the “Facility”). The Project is set to begin construction in late 2025 and will begin operations in late 2027 after a 24-month construction period.
Piper Sandler & Co. has been engaged by the Company to serve as the project advisor and debt and equity placement agent with respect to raising project financing for the project.
Smart Energy Shift
- Woody biomass is a unique renewable fuel that is transportable, easily stored, and capable of fueling baseload power generation.
- Wood biomass is a direct replacement for coal in power, heating, and industrial uses and is internationally recognized as a key component of energy system decarbonization.
- Global wood biomass annual demand is projected to grow ~9% annually from ~40 million MT in 2020 to ~70 million MT in 2027(1).
- Site controlled by NMR pursuant to a lease-to-purchase option with Itawamba County, MS.
- The NMR Facility is ideally located in Fulton, Mississippi, providing access to both feedstock and resources associated with the lumber industry (including railroad, river access, barge slip, and Interstate Highway).
- Improvements completed on the property to date are estimated to be ~$10mm.
- NMR is working with a large industry-leading EPC firm, who will provide a Not to Exceed Price, to oversee facility construction and ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- The EPC partner has confirmed that all engineering, procurement, and permitting will be completed in conjunction with financial closing.
- A preliminary independent feedstock study has been completed by the Mississippi State University Forestry Department, confirming a growth to removal ratio in excess of 2.9x.
- NMR has negotiated a preliminary feedstock supply arrangement with an investment grade counterparty that guarantees supply and has a cost sharing component .
- NMR is in discussions to secure a long-term offtake agreement for 100% of torrefied black pellet production.
- NMR team has decades of experience in domestic wood pellet and other forestry product development and operation; international and agricultural business development; industrial project construction management; and corporate finance.
